Autumn is a magical time, especially when the leaves transform into vibrant hues of red, orange, and gold.
Konkai Komyoji Temple (Konkai Kōmyō-ji Temple), also known as Kurodani, is a major Jodo sect temple in Kyoto. It started in 1175 when the monk Honen set up a hermitage here after leaving Mt. Hiei.
Locals affectionately call it "Kurodani-san."

The temple has faced several fires but has been rebuilt each time. Today, it features impressive structures like the main hall and a three-story pagoda. It also played a role in the history of the Shinsengumi during the late Edo period.

Autumn Beauty of Konkai Komyoji Temple

The temple has faced several fires but has been rebuilt each time. Today, it features impressive structures like the main hall and a three-story pagoda. It also played a role in the history of the Shinsengumi during the late Edo period.
The expansive grounds invite leisurely strolls, and while there’s an admission fee to enter the main hall, we could still enjoy stunning views without it.
The temple, rich in history, features a magnificent gate and a serene garden. It was a delightful experience amidst nature's colorful display!
